My Time at BARK
In the summer of 2022, I had the amazing opportunity to intern at BARK for a 3 month period. Under the guidance of the wonderfully talented soft-goods design team, I had my first exposure to DDS creation, assessing and comment on product samples, and brainstorming with a creative team in a professional setting. And of course, I also got to meet and play with a bunch of different dogs!
‘One Perfect Toy’ Concepts
‘One Perfect Toy’ was a cross-departmental initiative at BARK that encouraged designers from across the company to pitch a new toy idea to be considered for further development.
I had the opportunity to participate in a handful of these pitches, with one idea even moving ahead into production!
Puppy Box- Internship Project
As part of my internship, I was assigned to develop a hypothetical themed subscription box that would fit alongside the company’s other contemporary offerings.
For this project, I chose to explore a box that would contain toys that would focus on nurturing play behaviors in puppies.
Much of the theming for the Puppy Box hearkens back to color palettes and visual motifs that relates to human babies rather than puppies, being that many people this day and age tend to treat their furry companions as more than just a pet- they’re part of the family!
Basically, the goal of the box’s theming is to really put the baby in fur-baby.
